The complete magic of a Julia Lucey piece is hard to describe in words, but is unmistakable in person. The painstaking hand etchings she used in this collage are a double printed etchings, hand cut and recombined into their new landscapes.

A resident of Fairfax, California, Julia received her BFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute, and an MA in Education at Loyala Marymount University. As an Artist-in-Residence at Kala Art Institute, Julia has focused on traditional etching techniques and aquatint to create images dealing with evolving issues of wildlife, its dissolution, and the attempt by many to direct its path. in her most current body of work, her traditional etchings of native California flora & fauna are meticulously cut out and reassembled into new landscapes on panel.
